Meet the Experts Leading the Charge in Integrated Healthcare
A New Era for Health Care
Health Care is at a turning point. As demand for mental health care has surged, the mental health system has been unable to keep up, leaving many patients without care and driving many others to primary care. In response, integrating behavioral health services into primary care offers the promise of help.
Dr. Patricia Robinson and Dr. Jeffrey Reiter have dedicated their careers to building a model that prioritizes integrated, whole-person primary care. Their mission: to ensure that mental and physical health are seamlessly connected within primary care so that patients can receive the services they need at the time they need them. Their pioneering work in the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model has transformed the way health care providers think about where and how behavioral health services can be practiced. By developing practical, scalable strategies, they are addressing the mental health access crisis and helping clinicians, administrators, and educators bridge the gap between traditional medical care and essential psychological support.
Now, with the third edition of their groundbreaking book, "Behavioral Consultation and Primary Care: A Guide to Integrating Services," they offer a comprehensive, updated guide that tackles the pressing challenges of modern health care, including how to engage patients in improving their health and pursuing wellness. Whether addressing the shortage of mental health providers, the stresses facing primary care or the complexities of team-based care, their expertise provides a much-needed blueprint for sustainable change.
